the e-mail, and your hard drive, your server, and all your passwords.
Law enforcement in
our computerized world is a whole new game. That's why Kennesaw
State Universtiy has
opened the Southeast Cybercrime Institute. The Continuing Education
program will lead
to certification for cybercrime investigators. The first classes
begin this summer for
computer forensics, digital evidence and corporate cybercrime protection.
Jeff Crabtree, director of security for Kennesaw State's
information technology, heard
frequently from local police that they needed training in Internet
technology security. He
invited the state attorney general's office, FBI, Georgia Bureau of
Investigations and
Georgia Technology Authority to discuss their continuing education needs,
and the KSU
Cybercrime Institute was born. Its director is Thomas Akin. He ran the university's
Unix system and network while getting his degree, and then went to work
in corporate
